Deer Funny Valentine

Animal lovers, I mean you Casey, scroll down quickly past the first two photos. Steve loves to hunt and he finally shot a deer big enough to have a mount made. Yuck. But he loves it, so it's going into his reading room. Here he his with the creepy thing. Steve has a lot of deer sausage and probably some other stuff in the freezer. If you like that sort of thing, I'm sure he would be happy to give you a package. My deer, funny valentine. And yes, I know it should really be "dear" but it's a little play on words.

Don't look into his eyes - they follow you wherever you go. Eek.

This is what I received for Valentine's Day. A beautiful bouquet from Art In Bloom. They do really pretty arrangements. I like them because they use so many different flowers in each bouquet and they are fragrant. Oh, I also received tickets to see James Taylor May 4th. Woo hoo! Love me some Sweet Baby James. Steve thought of that all by himself. A very good thing.

I love the red beads cascading down the front of the vase. So pretty.
I know what all the other flowers are, but what is this in the photo below? Does anyone know? I am definitely not an expert when it comes to identifying flowers.

Jim Eller's Sunday School class had their Valentine's Day party tonight at the Owasso Community Center. Trail's End catered the meat and bread. Marilyn made her famous broccoli salad (my favorite food of the night) and Lori Eller made hash brown casserole. We had Italian cream cake or carrot cake for dessert. It was great fun. It was a "walk the red carpet" theme so we were all supposed to dress up. The paparazzi met us at the door and reporters were there to find out "who" we were wearing. Shoes by Gianni Bini, Dress, Cachet by Dillard's, bag, Kate Landry, diamond necklace - "He went to Jared's."

There were several awards - and I didn't win any - that were given out. They were fun. Class couple that dressed best for church; Tallest man, shortest woman, Best dressed man; best dressed woman (nominated, Miranda Thomas won-beauty before age-RATS!), etc. etc.
Here we all are - you can't see Miranda or Michelle - Jim is in front of them.

Here are the people who were at my table:

Steve and Pam

Rick and Marilyn

Allen and Bobbie

Walter and Bonnie

And finally, here's Penny accepting her award for making visitors feel most welcome. Thank you, Penny for putting the party together. It was great fun. Next year maybe you can have a best dressed category for the over 45 years old group. I might have a fighting chance in that category. Who could beat Miranda or Michelle Trout? They are way to cute and YOUNG. Maybe best shoes? Best and/or most make-up? List could go on and on. Oh, big thank you shout out to the servers: Nate and Casey, Shannon, Sam, and Ashley. You did a great job. My tea glass was always full. Casey, sorry I called you "goth girl" yet again. I think you are wonderful and I only tease you because I like you. Please don't blog bad things about me. Oh, you can if you want. I deserve it.

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone. Here's my favorite card - actually the only card I received:

Big Valentine's Day wishes from Big Yellow!

My husband also has a big old deer in his office, I make him keep things like that in his office! He thinks it would look great over the fire place, but it is NOT going there!! That pic of you and your hubby is super good, you look beautiful! Looks like a fun party and you made me hungry just by reading the menu items! ;)

Ah, the deer head. Yes, Ashlee warned me about this coming blog post. Ha ha. I don't really care. I think it's funny that you put a disclaimer on the top directed to me. I was a Wildlife Ecology major at OSU. I know that deer hunting is important in order to maintain a balanced ecosystem in certain areas. It also helps boost the economy (hunting licenses). I just personally couldn't shoot a deer myself. On one field trip for a Wildlife class, we had to go to a deer-hunting area, near the McAlister ammunition plant in southern OK, we had to watch someone gut a deer. I was so sick for days after that. Bleh!

Now, on to more pleasant topics.

I too had fun at the Valentine banquet. I think you and Miranda should have tied for Best Dressed. You both looked great.

No biggie on the goth comment. I knew you were kidding. I get a lot of flack from some of my family for always looking like I just came from a funeral. I think there are several people (particularly at church) that think I might be trying to be "goth". I just happen to own a lot of black clothing. I think I look horrible in bright colors, so I tend to stick to darker colors. Plus, the long, black Morticia hair probably doesn't help people's perceptions of me. But I don't care. I like my hair the way it is. "Goth" as it may be.

I agree with Casey about you and Miranda tying for best dressed. That is one beautiful dress you wore, carried on from the best wedding there ever was :)

I'm so proud of Dad for thinking of the James Taylor tickets all by himself. It's scary that we had the same idea. He didn't even have to call me this year for Art in Bloom's number. Yea!

And, about the deer head: I'm glad you let him have his little piece of happiness in his own little corner of the house. That's the song that needs to be on your blog, "My Own Little Corner," from Rodger's and Hammerstein's "Cinderella."

Nice deer head - I'd put it somewhere like a reading room too! I'm sure Steve is very proud, but those things are sort of disturbing to me! So great to hear you had a great Valentine's Day - I think you have the cutest "granddog" there is!

Playlist.com has quite the varitety of music...I'm shocked they offer that song. Thank you for adding it. And, Shannon, I agree, my mom does have the cutest granddog :)
