Retro Lunch!

So, remember how I said I found Ebay sort of addictive? Well, here's another purchase from my favorite place to buy new/old stuff:
Look at the Dick and Jane book. The copyright on the book is 1962. Old as me! Big thanks to my sister for the great book.

This is the lunchbox I had when I was in first grade oh, so many years ago. I never had the girly princess type lunch box. Mine was always some kind of Peanuts lunch box. I could always read better than most of my classmates (don't ask about doing math at the chalkboard - yeesh the nightmares!), so I loved that the thing had cartoons on the sides.

I saw it when I was looking for Steve's Roy Rogers lunchbox and it immediately threw me back to elementary school. First grade at John Ross Elementary in the pre-fab in Mrs. Jordan's class. My teacher was short, had a big black beehive hairdo, kitkat glasses and a laser glare that would pin you to your seat. Fortunately, I was too afraid of her to ever get the stare. I did, however, receive swats from her. She had to leave the room and told us to be quiet or the whole class would get swats. Hard to believe but I was actually quiet; some classmates weren't. I received the class wide swattage. Enough about my first grade adventures. That lunch box has magic memory power if it can throw me back to first grade and this:
Had to have that lunch box. Bidding was strong but I was not going to be outbid. Don't regret it for a minute. I love that Peanuts lunch box with it's intact thermos. When I pick it up (which I've done every day) I automatically swing it a little just like when I was six years old. Oh the power of my Peanuts lunch box.

Thank you, Charles M. Schulz and the Thermos Company for creating a lunch time masterpiece.

I bet your least favorite character was the blanket carrying Linus, hehe.

I like your old school picture.

Well, you're wrong. I don't like Linus' blanket, but he was super smart. I didn't like Peppermint Patty and Marcie. She called Charlie Brown "Chuck". Pleh.

Wish I had my strawberry shortcake lunch box like that.

I love it! The memories alone are worth every penny.

Wow- I think your first grade picture looks a lot like Ashlee. Your first grade teacher sounds super "nice" :), if Lily's teacher did that to her we would probably have to sedate her. Great memories!

So obviously that last comment was from me and not my very "chatty" husband. :)

Love the 1st grade picture. You are having yourself a time on e-bay aren't you? I like how it takes us back in time when we see something we connect to. I feel like my house is full of such things.
