God's Paintbrush

Yesterday I opened the back door to let the dogs out (6:00PM) and was greeted with this beautiful site:

The sun was starting to set and the last bit of light was hitting the top of one our few trees that survived the ice storm. Delightful.

I then headed to the front yard to get some photos of the leaves before they all fall from the trees. We have nice landscaping in front, but only have Japanese maple trees, so most of these trees belong to the neighbors.
This was my maple tree yesterday (it's a little blurry, sorry):This is the same tree today. Look at the rapid color change. Amazing.

Last rose of the season:

Happy fall. I love this time of year.

Beautiful pics! I LOVE your fall wreath on your door- so pretty! Josh's mom planted a Japanese Maple tree several years ago. She told Lily it was a Japanese Lily tree that they planted just for her. Lily really thinks its a Japanese Lily tree and checks on it every time we visit. :)

Lovely! My favorite season, and that's one of the reasons why. I could stare at the trees for hours.
