Ashlee finally got to give Jason his second anniversary present today and it was only four months late! Their anniversary is in May, but because of freaky weather and scheduling difficulties, they had to wait until today. We all had to keep it a secret so she could surprise Jason. I got to go watch them take off and here's the fun photos I took. They took off from one of the soccer fields at Rejoice Church. This is the company that does the balloon rides. The man looks kind of like the Wizard of Oz. Funny. Funnier still is he also does this business in Kansas. Hmmm.
Getting the basket ready for takeoff.
Ashlee watching them setting up the balloon.
Happy 2nd anniversary, Jason and Ashlee! They are so cute, aren't they?
This basket is not very big and six people were going up-the balloon owner and helper, a couple from Ohio (she thought I was Ashlee's sister-woohoo!) and Ashlee and Jason.
Ron and Mary Jane came to watch the kids too. I told Ron they had a cancellation and he could go up. It was funny because he is afraid of heights. I'm with him. I don't think I would want to do it either.
The balloon is way bigger than you think it is. Here it is all rolled up.
Filling the balloon up with a giant fan.
It's so pretty when it starts to inflate.
Jason and Ashlee holding up the side of the balloon to facilitate inflation of the balloon.
Jason and Ashlee.
It's getting there. It takes quite a while to get enough air in these things.
Jason showing Ashlee how to video.
Jason holding up his side of the balloon.
See the fan?
Don't you love how the sun is illuminating the inside of the balloon?
I had to fight an urge to run inside the balloon. It looks like it would be fun to be inside there. This is before they fired it up, of course!
That fan was whipping Ashlee's hair all around.
Inside the balloon.
There's a horrible glare from the sun in this photo, but can you see the fire inflating the balloon? It sure got hot fast!
Fire in the hole! I don't know how the material doesn't catch fire.
Just a little bit more air and they are good to go.

Yep, the pic is turned the right way. After they got in, the basket tipped over! They were holding on for dear life.

Ready for takeoff.
All aboard!
Wow - it went up into the sky fast!
Kind of scary to see part of your family float up into the sky.
Up, up and away. . .
In my beautiful, my beautiful balloon!
Since Ashlee doesn't have a blog anymore, I got to write all about this adventure. It was interesting to see how they go about getting the balloon and basket ready. When they landed and were letting the air out of the balloon, the owner grabbed Ashlee out of the basket and threw her on the balloon to help it deflate faster. He said she didn't weigh enough to help much. Some neighborhood kids got to come over and jump on it. Now that sounds fun! (I was home watching my granddog.)
Look at Ashlee's death grip.
I love Ashlee's expression.
Ready for takeoff.

Oh what fun! And love the ever-appropriate song for the occassion! I've always wanted to go on a hot air balloon ride, but Brian, too, is terrified of heights. I'd have to go by myself!
What a fantastic anniversary present! I would have never have come up with that idea in a million years! I loved all the step by step pics... almost felt like I was there! Happy Anniversary Ashlee and Jason!
Wow that is so neat! My boys were outside today and saw them! I know it had to be them... They went right over us:)
You got some cool pics! I'm with ya though... I'll celebrate our anniversary safely on the ground. I like the one where Ashlee's smiling, but she's clawing the side of the basket!
Hey Pam! Thanks for the info on bedding! I looked and looked and looked and couldn't find anything, so I'll definitely check this lady out. I was wondering what the website is, though. I was only able to look at the picture of the quilt.
Great pics, by the way!! What a fun anniversary gift!!
How fun! I think I saw them yesterday floating around Reasors! It's flying around our house right now as I type this.
They need to go to the balloon fiesta in Albuquerque(it's in Oct). They would love it!
500 balloons go up during the Mass Ascension, and then the afterglow at night is cool.
It's fabulous! I want to go sooo bad this year and I can't...stupid school! :oP
Wow! That was too cool. It was almost like being there, for some stupid reason I've always thought that would be fun, but you know me and heights, and the floor giving away issue. So, now I won't have to put myself through that cause I saw Jason and Ashlee instead. They are so cute and I'm so glad that Ashlee loves her job. Tell them belated HAPPY ANNIVERSARY from me. mk
How fun is that! What a great present. Love all the pictures of them and I am so sad that Ashlee doesn't have a blog anymore.
The have a balloon fiestaval in Talequah think it coming up I will have to find out.
It looks like you and Bev had a great time on your trip next time could you take that big COWBOY fan of yours! HEHE just kidding...Oh and I got to hear all about Kenny Chesney the other day! He is so funny isn't he?
hey, pam, that looks like fun! how nice that you all got to go watch. and by the way, I think that picure of me on my blog looks like one of your favorite people, ME!
Hey, Nate and I were out doing something the other evening and saw a hot air balloon WAY off in the distance. Wonder if it was them. That's really exciting. I think that would be so neat. I don't know if I could talk Nate into it. I would really like to go skydiving, but I have no one to go with. :( Glad you got to go watch them take off. Very neat.
Thanks Pam!! I'm enjoying being pregnant :) And thanks so much for the website. We found one set in particular that we really like!! Her choices were so much better than the few choices of 'outdoorsy' bedding I found on my own! I actually found a set that I would love for a little girl, if we have one. I'm saving that website for future references! :)
Pam - I bought Sadie a "big" toothbrush. Yeah, didn't think it was the most sanitary thing to have us "sharing".
