Ok So, I was tagged by Laura Flores... Ladies you know how this works, so here goes.
1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Really? Like there's a choice - hot chocolate. Egg nog is disgusting!
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Like all good gifters, Santa puts lots of love into his gifts and he wraps and color coordinates the ribbon and wrapping paper with your tree. Santa's thoughtful that way!
3. Colored light on house/tree or white? Lights on the tree are white and I usually use white and multicolored outside. This year, just two trees in urns on the porch with white lights. Lazy.
4. Do you hang mistletoe? No way - the berries are poisonous and I have pets who would eat any fallen berries!
5. When do you put your decorations up? As soon as possible - usually Thanksgiving weekend because I'm so slow in getting everything out.
6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? Excluding dessert? There's a meal? Hmm, I guess turkey and my sister's dressing with gravy.
7 . Favorite holiday memory as a child? Trying to go to sleep so Santa would come. So hard!
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? Who's spreading vicious rumors about Santa? What do you mean? That he only comes if you truly believe? He still fills the stockings at our house.
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Yep - Used to be just one, but now since Ashlee is married, we open our family gifts (Steve, Pam, Ashlee, Jason and Tyler) Christmas Eve after church services. Fun!
10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? Red and gold is the only way to go! Although I am drawn to the black and silver ornaments. They are so dramatic, but I'll probably always use red and gold.
11. Snow. Love it or dread it? LOVE it! As long as the electricity stays on.
12. Can you ice skate? Hard to believe, but I can. Haven't done it in years. Would be afraid I would break a hip now!
13. Do you remember your favorite gift? Well, of course I do! I just got it last year. A beautiful, shiny red patent leather Brighton purse from three of my great friends. LOVE IT! I also got a wonderful diamond journey pendant one year from Steve (thanks for choosing it, Ashlee) and the next year, diamond earrings (thanks again, Ashlee and Tyler)! Mmm...sparkly. I wear the earrings every day.
14. What is the most important thing about the holidays for you? Thinking of God's great love for me when I think of my Savior's willingness to humble himself and enter into this world as an infant. Incredible!
15. What is your favorite holiday dessert? Now we're talking business! I love my sister's chocolate cream pie, my sister-in-law's sugar cookies, fudge, my mom's italian cream cake, oh the list could go on and on!
16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? I love going to vespers at our church especially when all the family is there. It's beautiful. Also, all the Baskins' cousins build a human pyramid and we take photos of them every year. It's fun to see who is going to be on the bottom row and who ends up on the top. Baby Caleb will be the perfect pyramid top this year-can't wait!
17. What tops your Christmas tree? Normally, I alternate an angel (for Ashlee) and a star (for Tyler), but the last two years it's been a crazy red bead concoction that looks like a fireworks explosion.
18. Which do you prefer - giving or receiving? I love trying to find the perfect gift for everyone, but let's face it, I would be lying if I said I didn't like receiving presents. Giving is definitely more fun.
19. What is your favorite Christmas song? O Holy Night, Handel's Messiah (And He shall reign forever and ever! Goosebumps just thinking about it!) and Mary, Did You Know? for the message in the words and I'll Be Home For Christmas by Michael Buble and just for fun Baby, It's Cold Outside especially when James Taylor and Natalie King Cole sing it, but I can't stand Jessica Simpson singing it. She is just not sophisticated enough to pull it off. Dean Martin? Yes. Barry Manilow? Yes. Even Zooey Deschanel and Will Ferrell from Elf, but NOT JESSICA SIMPSON! Fingernails on a chalkboard, man.
20. Candy Canes. Yum or Yuck? Neutral about them - neither yucky or yummy. Rather have chocolate!
21. What do you want for Christmas? I'm hoping Ashlee and Jason make a photo book of our Disney trip we took this summer and a sound sleep machine the most, but I'll be happy with whatever I get. I always get WAAAYYY more than I deserve.
22. Do you attend an annual Christmas party? I always have Christmas bunco at my house for my Broken Arrow bunco friends. We've been playing for 15-16 years. WOW!
23. Do you dress up for Christmas Eve or wear PJ’s? We usually are semi-dressed up since we go to church services.
24. Do you own a Santa hat? Well, my dogs have Santa hats.
25. Who do you normally spend Christmas with? I have the Baskins' family-about 19 of us now- Christmas early (this year December 19th) so all the young marrieds can spend time with their extended families and Christmas morning is just Steve, Tyler, the dogs and me. Then we have my family come over or we go to my mom's or sister's for Christmas lunch and mega present opening.
Now, I get to tag five others. 1) Ashlee; 2) Cindy; 3)Noelle; 4)Casey; 5)Katie B.
All you have to do is copy the above questions and paste on your blog (with your answers, of course!) Then tag five of your friends. Come on, it's fun!
