VBS - Day 5

I'm back! After yesterday, I was worried about what Friday would bring.
Well, it brought awesome almost-first grader friends, fun, and fabulous boy skits. I am so very proud of the girls and guys who volunteered to be captains for being terrific examples for the little kids. They were all so nice and went out of their way to have fun with the younger kids.

Reasons why Friday was a good day:
The plain cake doughnut (they were out of coconut cake doughnuts) that I bought at Daylight Doughnuts and snarfed down before I headed to church. Amazing how a little sugar can perk you up.

Diet Dr. Pepper. Amazing how a little fizzy, caffeinated drink can perk you up. :)

My semi-clear sinus passages. Thank you, Jesus, for Excedrin, Claritin, and Benadryl.
Pre-gluing part of our craft. (The two big blisters on my pinky from the hot glue not so great.)

Dancing, singing, and laughing with my super fun class.

Seeing my Pastor jump up, spin around, get up, get down. It's fun to see him enjoy the kids and be able to loosen up and have fun. All you people who object to a pastor having a good time, ignore this comment.

Falling while jumping up, spinning around, getting up, getting down and not hurting myself.
Note to self: Don't try the above with flip flops that stick to the carpeting in church. What a big klutz. Did I quit after I fell? Nope. Why stop if you're not hurt? Carry on, goofball!

No upset kids.

Last day I have to help my class spend their tickets. YAY!

Rico the Penguin didn't sneak up behind me.

Pastor's voice was back.

Teens who helped by being verse listeners and shopping helpers and anything else that was asked of them. You guys were great all week. Your parents should be very proud.
Having a child remember that Mary had extreme joy when she found out she was going to be Jesus' mother. That was Wednesday's story and I couldn't remember what "extreme" it was.
Every day the Bible story had an "extreme" theme.
Monday - Abraham - Extreme Trust
Tuesday - Josiah - Extreme Obedience
Wednesday - Mary - Extreme Joy
Thursday - Peter - Extreme Forgiveness
Friday - The Good Samaritan - Extreme Love

The cute baby girl skit. Almost made me cheer for the girls - I said ALMOST. Cute, chubby little babies with cute, smart moms and good editing by the great Cody Wilbanks.
The awesome Indiana Jones skit performed by the boys. Even the girls loved it and wished they could see it again.
The cool shirt Everett wore:
I am VERY grateful to my helper for the week. My fun, kind, sweet daughter. Wouldn't have made it through the week without her and the iced vanilla coffees from McDs and iced berry chai drinks from Starbucks she brought EVERY day. Mmmmm.....

Also, thanks to all the volunteers this week. Teachers, helpers, crafters, store keepers, registration ladies, snack girls, money counters, sound and light guys, etc. VBS only works because you are willing to sacrifice your time and energy. We totally rocked VBS this year. Bravo to all of you.

And last, but not least, who's going to win, boys or girls?
Can you tell by Austin's expression? BOYS WIN! Should have taken a picture of one of the girls in my class. She was crying. Happens every year. The thrill of victory. The agony of defeat. Girls have won three years in a row. It was time for the boys to enjoy a win.
It was really close and the money will be divided evenly between the kids in Ecuador and South Africa. Awesome!
Be cool.
Sorry about the randomness of the sentence spacing. I have tried over and over to space my lists correctly and then when blogger publishes this post, I lose lines and gain lines in other places. Argh!

I don't know anyone in the world who can have more fun than you. I love that you love the kids, are willing to let go and cut loose. I wish I'd had my video camera when you and pastor were rocking to the music, it was priceless. You are like the energizer bunny, you took a licking and kept on ticking. You should have tried to do one of those back spins while you were on the ground, make it look like a purposeful "get down on the ground" move. If it makes you feel any better about that incident, you were adorable doing it.
