Yeesh, I'm married to an old man! On 07/07/59, Steve giddy-upped into the world. These photos remind me so much of my nephew, Josh. Hmmm.
Just a quiet celebration - his mom is on vacation and his brother and wife were recuperating from their gigantic family get together, so just the fam, dinner (no chicken!) and lots and lots of candles.
Look at the smoke coming off that cake. And yes, he blew them all out in one breath. If Steve eats dessert, he likes plain yellow cake with chocolate icing. Pleh, but hey you only turn 50 once and if that's what you like, that's what I'm going to make. At least the frosting is real chocolate buttercream. Yum.

Happy 50th Birthday. Takes a lot of fingers to represent the big 5-0. Of course, Steve would not give me any 'tude in this photo. I told them to represent and bring it. Maybe when you turn 50 you just can't be that cool. :) (That's Preston a few steps above the kids. Silly dog.)

You guys are too funny! Happy birthday to Steve!
Happy Birthday to Steve. He must have robbed the cradle. He probably preferred the smaller celebration over a huge affair.
Happy Birthday Steve! We have the same taste in cake, that's my absolute fav too!! Love the "age" picture, very creative!!
Happy Birthday to Steve!!! His picture does look alot like Josh!! Loving his candles!!
I can't believe Dad is 50! And, of all the amazing desserts you make (i.e. caramel brownies, lemon cake, black russian cake, monkey bread, the list goes on and on), I can't believe Dad likes blah yellow cake with blah chocolate icing...weird. He didn't even touch my wonderful iced coffee cupcakes. Guess we'll never get his taste buds up to par. Oh, well, gotta love him, anyway.
Although, your version of the blah chocolate icing was buttercream, the only way to go. Whipped frosting is disgusting. Yes, I am a cake snob. So are you.
Happy Birthday Steve!
