Say hello to my little friend

I am totally girly and squealy when it comes to actually wanting to touch amphibians of any sort. That being said, every year it seems like we have one little frog/toad hanging out around our patio and snagging a june bug dinner and I like looking for him every night. This year's model is just a little guy, probably around 3-4 inches long. I love the way this particular little froggy/toad comes out around 11:00-11:30pm every night. Probably helps that I leave the porch light on to attract more bugs for him to eat. Yes, I leave the light until around midnight just for my little toady friend. Don't worry. My neighbors behind me leave their backyard flood light on all night every night so my little porch light doesn't bother them. Toady Dude really did not appreciate the interruption of his dinner plans that taking these photos required. Oh well. His grouchiness is kind of cute, don't you think? I also attempted to take photos of the bats that come out at dusk every night, but they are just too fast. Better to just sit back and enjoy the show. Happy hunting, little friend.
Nature is cool - from a distance, of course.

Look at him! (her?) What a cute toad! I agree--cute from afar! It's so nice that you leave the light on for him. He's good pest control!!

Oh man, we have so many frogs/toads/whatever all around our house...and the dogs love to try and catch them. Not good.

We have several around our house. Jake names them all. But every year "Johnny" returns. We had a big fat papa on the ft porch every evening but we found him in the road couple of months ago :o(
He was HUGE, wish I would have taken some pics!
I called Jake in one evening last summer as it was getting dark, and here he came down the sidewalk with a bucket full of toads, they were flopping out of the bucket onto the sidewalk as he ran home. Too funny.
