Best View of Bride and Groom: Cody and Jordan. Her father performed the ceremony and stood in the aisle, so that the bride and groom faced their guests. Cool.
Best Flower Girl: Macey Kirkpatrick - she was super cute.
Best Bell Ringer: "The bride is coming!" Logan Kirkpatrick - look at how much he's grown in three years!
Best Ring Bearer: Tyler Baskins at Cindy and Robert's wedding - he was 10 years old and sooo cute.
Best Soloist: Katie Baskins' Uncle. I could have listened to him all day.
Best DJ: Ashlee and Jason's wedding because as independent Baptist churchgoers, it was unheard of to actually have a dance. He was surprised by how many people actually danced and had a good time. Ashlee and Jason also had a great playlist.
Best Dance Solo: Well, you know I have to choose Tyler, ice, ice, baby.
Best Food: Kristen and Isaac Johnson. I hear Ben Hastings had wonderful food but I had to attend a school function with Tyler, so I can't put in on my fave list.
Best Bridal Bouquet: Ashlee's very traditional lily-of-the-valley because it suited her, smelled great and just so happens to be the month of May's flower, her birth month. It also photographed really well.
Best Invitation: Hands down, no contest, Ben Hastings. I still have it because the colors were so beautiful and it was just a great invite.
Best Cake: Well, Ashlee and Jason's cake is my sentimental favorite because it came from Ann's Bakery, who also made my wedding cake, along with my first birthday cake. I never got to eat any of it though! The groom's cake was also quite beautiful. I thought Jordan and Cody's cake was delicious.
Best Get Away Car: Kristen and Isaac Johnson. Don't remember what it was, but it was a cool, classic car. Like something out of a 40's movie.
Best Program - Chris and Martha Slayden had a really pretty program that was imbedded with flower seeds. You could plant it. It was a pretty taupe or brownish color. They misspelled Kayli's name, though!
Best Exit from Ceremony: Jessica and Taylor Hagan - the wedding party all did a little dance step. Very fun.
Best Bridesmaid Dresses: Kristen and Isaac's wedding. Maybe it's because Ashlee looked so adorable in it.
Most Beautiful Wedding Party: Ashlee and Jason. Who can go wrong with those sweet, beautiful girls? And the guys were pretty stinkin' adorable also.
Best Ceremony Site: Kristen and Isaac Johnson. That church was very pretty.
Best Groom Reaction: Cody Thomas. When he saw Jordan's silhouette through the doors, he was all teary eyed, which prompted most of the guests to start reaching for tissues.
Best Wedding Dress: I liked Ashlee's because it had straps that criss crossed in back and it was all princessy and perfect for her. Kristen Johnson's dress was gorgeous and very "Kristen" plus I haven't seen any other dresses similar to Ashlee and Kristen's dresses.
Best Things I Hadn't Seen Before: Joanne and Curtis Martin-Salt covenant. Ashlee and Jason also did this and I love the symbolism. The parents joining the bride and groom in prayer. Cody and Jordan's parents did this and I thought it was very sweet. Eco-friendly confetti that dissolves in rain and doesn't hurt the environment that we used at Ashlee's wedding.
Best/Worst Photographer: Ashlee and Jason's photographers because they were very innovative for three years ago and worst because they were kind of abrasive to some of the wedding party. But the photos don't lie. They were good at their craft.

I have to say my three least favorite wedding things are:
1. Lonnnngggg, wordy indulgent ceremonies
2. After the ceremony photos. Take those family photos before so everyone can enjoy the reception.
3. People who arrive LATE. Gack.

Me and my sisters also stood facing the audience, the grooms weren't terribly excited about it but they did it to please their future wives. Also my grandpa is a beautiful writer, he has such a way with words and wrote wonderful poems for each of our invitations. They are all great, but I think mine was the best. ;)
I loved Ashlee and Jason's salt covenant! Very cool. At a wedding we recently attended, the bride and groom each took a sip of wine from a goblet and then the groom stepped on it at the end of the ceremony. I know it symbolized something (from a Jewish tradition?), but whatever it was, I thought it was cool and unique, for a typical Christian wedding. Also, at another wedding, the couple did a rope ceremony where the pastor held three cords and the couple braided them together, to signify that cord of three strands. Very cool. Plus they get to keep the cord as a reminder of their promise and their wedding day. Very cool! Um, as far as the worst things ... well, I know this sounds mean, but I always feel bad when both sets of parents talk during the ceremony as a part of the ceremony to say how wonderful their child is and how much they adore their new son/daughter-in-law .... and they end up sobbing ... but no one else really sobs because it's not the bride and groom sobbing, it's the overly-emotional parents. Anyway. I know it means a lot to the bride and groom, but it's kind of awkward for the rest of us.
I couldn't even get through the ceremony without blubbering. Having to talk would have been excruciating.
Annie, I would love to read the poem your Grandpa wrote for your invitation - blog it! And, Katie, I agree with you about the on-stage blubbering parents. The Jewish tradition sounds cool, too.
I love weddings. Obviously, I had the most fun at my own. I should note that the photos my mom used in this post are scanned; the quality is much better on the originals (love that blue wall wedding party jump). The wedding couldn't have been as good without my mom, the master party planner.
Uhmm, I didn't plan anything. I just followed behind Ashlee and wrote the checks. It's sweet that she tried to give me credit, but I just went along for the ride.
I did find super fun gifts for the attendants and I like we were able to buy the girls dresses and shoes so they weren't stuck buying a dress they would never wear again. I know Ashlee has a couple of dresses in the closet that are cringe worthy!
I feel very honored to have made your list! Weddings are the best! Why don't men like them as much as we do??
Correction to your post, it is Joann and Curtis MARTIN not Johnson. i enjoyed reading your wedding favorites and of course loved seeing the pics of Macey and Logan, one of the special moments of Ashlee's wedding to me was the moment Logan completed his final announcement that "The Bride is coming" he came to sit by his dad and me and immediately ask Robert, "Dad, are squid real"? How he was able to walk down that isle making his announcement thinking of squid I'll never know. Russell and Cassie's wedding was pretty traditional, nothing out of the ordinary, other than I thought they were both gorgeous, the exceptional thing was the expression on Russell's face throughout the entire ceremony. I thought he was going to reach down and just eat Cassie up.
Can't believe I did that! I'll fix that little last name problem right now.
