Happy 19th Birthday, My Favorite Son!

July 20th, 1989 - Inducement Day. Whew! In those days, we were encouraged to have a "natural childbirth". Nobody in their right mind would do that now, let alone do it while having pitocin injected into your arm to create those neverending contractions. It was well worth it because look at my sweet baby boy! This is Tyler at 6 months and 1 year. I love his cute little sailor suit, but would laugh to see a 1 year old boy in one now! Notice how chubby he is? It sure didn't last long. He is definitely a Baskins Boy - long and lean.

This is Tyler on the train at Hallowzooeen at the Tulsa Zoo. He looks adorable, but he was so cranky! Turns out, he was running a pretty high fever and had strep!

He loved tigers when he was little. I think he thought his name was "Tiger".

Tyler at Sunday School at Friendship Baptist when we were on Main Street. He was 3 years old. Cried every Sunday until he was four. Isn't he just so cute? Are you diggin' the turquoise/hot pink shirt and stone washed jeans?

Tyler and my nephew, Blake, at the McDonald's that used to be across the street from Chuck E. Cheese's. This is one of my favorite pictures because I love the colors and their cute expressions.

Tyler's fourth birthday at El Chico. He loved El Chico, but did not want to wear this sombrero. You can't tell by the pic, but he was so mad. We couldn't eat at El Chico for a very long time.

He's wearing one of his favorite shirts. It had matching yellow Taz shorts and he had to wear this at least once a week-he tried to wear them every day. Yuck. Have to admit, he looks mighty cute in it.

VBS at Friendship. It was a transportation theme. Dig those giant muscles!

Tyler on the Costa Rica missions trip. He's been on every missions trip for the past four or five years. He loves them.

Tyler playing bass for "Fun on the Run". It's an all night activity for the teens - I think there was 300-400 kids and counselors. Kina would know for sure, but it's a lot of fun for the kids. The band was so good, they were asked to play up in Winfield, KS for a youth activity 07/19/08. Rock on, Tyler!

This is my crazy son in a bear costume I had made for Ashlee to wear for one of our church Christmas plays. It's kind of creepy with that weird 5 o'clock shadow and glasses. He cracks me up with the goofy things he does.

One of Tyler's senior pictures. I love this (this is just a picture I took of the big canvas one I have on my mantle) photo. He looks so handsome and grown up.

My goofy boy at four years old lovin' his Goofy hat he had to have at DisneyWorld.

My goofy boy at almost 19 years old with a new Goofy hat (and his favorite character, Goofy) and wearing the silly hat to make his mom happy. He drives me nuts one minute and makes me happy, proud, and everything else good the next minute. Happy 19th Birthday, Tyler. You're always entertaining. Can't wait to see what the future holds for you. You are my homeboy!

That was so cute. Some of those pics (like the VBS one) brings back a flood of memories from Friendship's old building. Lots of fun memories.

Happy Birthday Tyler! Isn't it amazing how you can remember so many of the details from the time the pictures were taken? Tyler is so cute in the tiger costume - even with all the face paint you can still tell that it's him.

I love all those pictures!!! I can't believe that my boys are going to be 19 one day! We love Tyler! In fact, he was just at my house, with a scary mask, didn't say a word, and just stared at my kids and then left. He is always making me laugh!

ps. Tyler in that sheep costume is a little creepy :)
