Ashlee and I took a little road trip to OKC last Friday and stayed downtown really close to Bricktown. We went to the zoo Saturday and her best friend, Tiffany and her husband, Chris, met us there. We had a great day and ended up eating lunch/dinner at Abuelo's with them. Said our goodbyes, was on the road. About 10 minutes later, while going about 75 miles an hour in the left lane with a semi truck in the right lane, POW! Blowout! Luckily, it was the back passenger tire and I was able to pull off of the turnpike. Ashlee has AAA, so we waited for a tow truck to haul us back to Pep Boys in OKC (the only tire store that was open until 8:00PM) Oh, we had to go all the way to Wellston to turn around because there are no other exits before that. Drats! Well, we had to find a hotel because they couldn't put the tires on that night. I needed four new tires! Yikes. We had to stay another night in OKC with no hotel reservation. The nice guy from Pep Boys drove us up the street to a Marriott Courtyard and we were able to get a room. Not only that, it had just opened the day before! Our room was brand spankin' new. It was really nice and they only charged us half the usual price. But wait,, it gets better. We could cross one street, walk across a pedestrian bridge above the turnpike, cross another street and lo and behold, there was Quail Springs Mall! We went to a late showing of "Hancock", which is really pretty good, and walked back to our hotel, where the staff was waiting. I guess when there aren't very many people in the hotel, you are treated extra special! When we walked in,, they asked what movie we went to see and how it was, then bid us good night. We were cracking up. After breakfast. we took our luggage downstairs and the staff held onto it until our car was ready. There was only one thing to do - SHOP!
We had a great time at the mall. Nine West was having a big sale, so I had to get a new purse, heels and sandals. It's sick how much I love shoes and purses.
"My name's Pam and I'm a shoe and bag addict!"
My Durango was finally ready (about 3 1/2 hours late) and we left OKC and returned home late Sunday afternoon. What an adventure, what good bargains, what a good time.
Oh, here are a few more bathroom renovation pics. I know, I've already shown you tons of them, but this is a better pic of my tub. It's narrower and deeper than my old one and Jetta tubs are supposed to hold the heat better because they use more insulation and thicker acrylic stuff when they make them. I love that it has arm rests. Makes reading in the tub soooo easy and comfy.
Finally, here is a better picture of my cabinetry. I love the antique finish in the grooves and I love the drawer pulls. Took forever to find some that I thought would coordinate with everything else.

I was wondering what your tub looked like. So nice and relaxing, huh? Great find on the shoes and purse. Sometimes the "bumps in the road" are for the better - more time with your daughter and more time to shop. Who wouldn't take a blown tire for that? Glad you are safe, though, that's scary!
WOW! I really enjoyed looking at both of your bathroom makeovers! I LOVE watching bathroom makeovers on HGTV. They are GORGEOUS!!!!! I bet you are relieved they are done and life can get back to normal. I am also very glad that you and Ashlee are okay from your tire blow out.
What an adventure!!! I am so glad you guys were safe, AND you could turn the night (and next day) into something fun. You women are awesome :)I am so jealous of your bathroom? Do you think I could come over and see it, and maybe take a bath?? (jk, I'm not that weird)
BTW, if you are ever having a garage sale, let me know, I am sure there will be lots of really cute shoes and purses I could use ;)
Well I'm glad everything turned out okay with the blow out. Bummer that you had to replace all four tires...but hey at least you got cute shoes and a really cute bag;)
Ashlee was telling me all about your damsel-in-distress weekend. Good thing AAA came to your rescue! You might have been stranded otherwise. At least you got to do some shopping! I love shoes too. And hey, if they were on sale, then you couldn't affort not to buy them. :)
what an adventure!! sounds like you guys had fun anyway!! good for you!
