My Middle-Aged LIfe

Who says getting old is bad? Well, maybe it is, but being middle-aged is pretty good. Here's my day: Wake up, read paper, eat a pear, take a shower, put on makeup (okay, so this does take triple the time it used to - I have to trowel the stuff on), dry my hair.
Off to run errands on a beautiful day. Not bad. Go to a matinee of a movie on its opening day. Been interested in seeing Taken since I saw previews. I went by myself because Ashlee was back at school, Marilyn had a hair appointment and I thought it was rated "R" so my sister in law was out of the picture. Well, It's only "PG-13," but whew! It is pretty action packed and filled with violence - revenge - my favorite! Only an hour and a half long but I don't think my heart could have taken much more. Danger, danger! Of course, you just know Liam Neeson is going to take care of business. Even if he doesn't, so what? You've gotten to see a roughed up, manly man in action. Who can complain? Pretty good movie. If you liked The Bourne Identity, you'll like this movie. Lots of action, a little formulaic, but worth the $5.00 and the $7.50 for a diet coke and hot tamales.

Don't mess with Liam Neeson!

So, a pretty good day - footloose and fancy free. Not a bad life at all. I saw two previews that look interesting: "The International" with Clive Owen (yum) and "17 Again" - Matthew Perry, my favorite from Friends and Zac Ephron. Matthew Perry magically gets to relive his teendom. Someone please tell me why I enjoy Zac Ephron so much. It's so wrong, but, good grief, he's so cute! I've always been a fool for a cute, dancing man: Gene Kelly (just singing and dancin' in the rain) John Travolta(I got chills, they're multiplyin'), Patrick Swayze (I've had the time of my life...), Zac Ephron(High School Musical-I know, I'm so immature - Ya never know what you’re gonna feel....)

Tonight - Watching my niece cheer at a basketball game. Go Union Redskins - well, the cheerleaders, anyway!
It's a very good life for me.

Sorry I wasn't there for you this afternoon Pam. However, Rick took me to my hair appointment and we were going to get something to eat and go to a movie. Bobbie said they were going out to eat tonight so we waited until she got off work and had dinner with her and Alan and then we all went to the movies. I planned to see New in Town with Renee Zelwegger and Harry Connic Jr. but we saw Taken instead. We liked it too, it was action packed and inspiring to see the lengths a father will go to to get his daughter back. I hope those things don't really happen in this world but fear they probably do somewhere. Some people will burn really hot someday if that's the case. Evil, Evil stuff. After I bought our tickets and were heading inside to the theater Bobbie ask what the rating was, it said R and we thought about exchanging the ticket for something else but didn't. I was pleasantly surprised that there was no bad language, just killing. But everyone that was killed needed to be. Not passing judgement or anything.

You do have a fantastic life! I LOVE the movie Singing in the Rain!!!!!! Many of my favorite movies are musicals. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is one of my all time favs! I also enjoy Zac Efron, I blame Lily for my love of High School Musical. Katie and I were glad we had a good excuse to go to the third movie. We pretended we HAD to take the kiddos, but secretly were very excited about seeing it! :)

Well, Annie, at least you're close to his age. He could be my son! Did I say getting old wasn't so bad?

Sounds like a great life to me: no schedule, free time, movies that aren't rated G, I'll make it there someday:)
