Road Trip

My niece had an appointment to check out Texas Christian University and was nice enough to ask me to go along. So after Sunday School, we were off to Ft. Worth. I thought it was in Dallas. Oh, well. We were getting hungry so we finally stopped in Atoka, OK at Pizza Hut. Do not make the same mistake. When we walked in, there was a piece of pizza on the floor by the buffet-when we left there was a piece of pizza on the floor by the buffet. We ordered stuffed crust because I love it and never get to have it. It tasted like cinnamon and sugar had been sprinkled on it. Pleh.

Oh, I almost forgot, the booth we sat in had a broken seat and was completely unattached. It also had no springs. My sister told me sit up and I already was. The crater in the booth was so deep, you could only see me from the shoulders up. So funny! Don't even get me started on "The Black Eyed Pea" dinner time. We had many food related difficulties. Luckily, none were serious, only funny.

Every night is kid's night for my niece.

Pretty campus - in case you don't already know, they are the TCU Horned Frogs and the school colors are purple (for royalty) and white (fair play). See, Chloe, I listened to the tour guide! Horned frogs aren't frogs at all, but look like little fat lizards.
We took a walking tour of the campus and this is the chapel. Very pretty. It was one of the cleanest campuses I've ever seen.
'Course, with an art teacher daughter, I tend to notice artwork. Here's a few things that caught my eye.
Statue of the founders of the university. It's blurry because I was walking as I snapped the pic.
My niece and my sister on the walking tour. Chloe had to wear my extra pair of sunglasses because she forgot hers. She wasn't as thrilled with the "skullies" as I am. I love those sunglasses. They make me feel a little edgy when I wear them.
Waiting to see an advisor.
I can't believe my sweet little niece is already looking at colleges. She has grown up way too fast. How does that happen?
Finally, a good place to eat. Just a little sandwich shop called "Potbellies." Kind of like Quizno's, only way better. They even have great iced tea. Love it when a restaurant uses Tazo tea. Then it was back to good old O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A!

TCU looks like a good school and I have always liked the mascot. Sounds like you had fun even though you were in texas (and that is in lower case for a reason).

Chloe is so cute. I like both pics of you and Aunt V. with her. I wish I could have gone with you all...dumb old ice. TCU has some nice public art What was that first sculpture made of? Limestone, perhaps? That one was the most interesting to me.

Mmmm, Tazo Tea! Every time I order a Vanilla Chai Latte from Starbucks, I think of you. Chloe is an absolute doll. What a fun trip!!

As a native Tulsan, I love the OK, but if I had to live anywhere else, it would be TX. Texas girls are all so pretty.

I like visiting college campuses. They're all so alike, but so different too. Glad you had a good trip.

Good thing I wasn't at that Pizza Hut. I would have had to have had a word with someone on the quality of their restaurant.

All those pics make me miss home. Even though home is in OK and not TX... but hey, the landscape is similar! Looks like everyone had fun!

P.S. I like the sunglasses too!
