Brrrr! Sure is cold at Friendship this week. That polar extreme wind is hitting at the perfect time for the town of Owasso. Day one went by super fast. Ashlee and I had 15 kids in our class. Four girls, eleven boys. I only knew four of the children, the rest were visitors, which was great. They are a terrific bunch of kids and were very well behaved. We had a great day and could not believe it was over. We packed a lot of learning and fun in three short hours. I also learned that glue dots are a great idea - if you are a girl. Most, not all, of the boys really struggled with them. I'm scared for Wednesday's craft-more glue dots. Oh well. In case you aren't familiar with glue dots, they are literally dots of sticky glue sandwiched between a cellophane-type paper and a wax paper. They stick to the wax paper when you peel the cellophane paper off and then you attach it to your foam or whatever you are sticking together.
My least favorite part? Helping the kids at the general store. Some of the kids just can't make up their minds about what they want to buy with those last two tickets.
The best part? Laughing and having fun with all the kids. It's great.
Best name? I think Carla's class. They are either "The Ice Queens" or "The Ice Princesses" and they are soooo cool!
Best sign? Definitely the "Extreme Eskimos" - Teresa, that sign is great coming and going.
Best use of multiple signs? Well, that would be my class, with signs for EVERY member of the class. No fighting over the big sign this year.
Scariest thing at VBS? Rico the penguin. Makes me almost jump out of my skin every time I see him.
Mad props to the boys and girls who are captains this year. You are already rockin' the house and I'm lovin' it. Have to admit I'm for the boys, but who can blame me? Gotta love that crazy son of mine. Rock on, boys. I love your energy.
Who had my sympathy today? Mrs. Faith and Mrs. Nancy. They had the little ones, two or three year olds, worker's children only, and they had 18! Yeesh. Next was the four year old class and I think they had 22. I don't know what tomorrow holds, but I'm ready. Bring it!
Fantastic polar bear photo taken at the Tulsa Zoo by my favorite son-in-law.
Stay cool, y'all.
