I've been cleaning out our attic and look what I found:
Some of Ashlee's dolls. I washed all the clothes and now I have to buy another storage bin (they were in a giant cardboard box that was probably what we stored them in at our old Broken Arrow house-poor little dolls). Notice the red bonnet on one of the dolls? One of the outfits Ashlee wore when she was a baby.

Now, we're talking good stuff. This was my Barbie when I was young. No bendable arms and legs for me! The little long haired dolls are Barbie's little sister, Skipper. The reddish-brown haired one belongs to me, the blonde haired one belongs to my sister. The other doll is "Pepper". Don't really remember her story, only know that none of Barbie's clothes ever fit her and neither did Skipper's. And no, we didn't cut their hair. That's how they came, except it was straighter. I think they look pretty good to be such old, old dolls. All of the clothing is also old. The red velvet coat has a tag inside that says "Skipper Doll - 1963". Now, I was born in 1962, and I know I didn't have a Skipper when I was one, but I guess that's just the year the coat was trademarked. Pepper and the other Skipper have on clothes that one of my mom's friends made for us. They are in great shape. How fun is that?
Here's the reason Mattel decided to have Barbie break up with Ken:
He just didn't have a good head on his shoulders!
This is actually the dad from the Hart Family. I don't know if Ashlee ever actually owned a Ken doll, but she does have a Beast and Prince Eric doll. Cleaning the attic is definitely not fun, but I do like finding fun stuff. The best find was this book written by Ashlee when she was around three years old. Her babysitter (I worked until Ash was six) wrote the words Ashlee wanted and Ashlee created her own illustrations. I looked high and low for this when Ash and Jason got married. I thought it would be fun to have it on the tables at the reception, but I couldn't find it. I thought it was lost forever. I found it in an old school binder that belonged to Ashlee when she was in 10th grade. I almost threw it away without looking inside and I'm glad I didn't because she had put several things in there that were from when she was young. Maybe she had a project or something - I don't know, but I almost cried when I saw this. So without further ado, Here's Dogs Marry Other Dogs:

How neat!! I actually have some of those same dolls in my own attic from when I was a little girl!! I love the story too, cute!!
I definitely remember the Hart family! And their pink convertible. Love the dog story too...even then she was an animal person!
wow...talk about a blast from the past! The Hart Family?!? you have a lot of treasures in your attic!! you're a good mom for keeping them!
I have some of the same dolls too!! I always wondered why my mom kept so much stuff, but now that I am grown I love it. I hope to remember to keep my kids stuff!
LOVE the book!!!
Tiffany and I saw some old Barbies at an antique store in Claremore...they had the same case that you and Aunt Vickie had. I think yours may still be at Nanny's? The store was selling the case for $200.
I forgot all about the Hart family until this post.
I'm glad you found the book. I thought it was lost forever.
What treasures, the dolls and the memories they recover. I don't have any of my dolls left. Of course they were made of flour sacks stuffed with horse hair or straw. NO THEY WERE NOT, REALLY. The reason it takes us so long to clean house or clear out our attics is that we go down memory lane, Rick just can't seem to understand that.
