Mom's Day Out

Ashlee was supposed to go shopping with my mom today, but it was rescheduled, leaving Ashlee with nothing to do. Good for me because she called and wanted to go to the zoo. Love the zoo. It was a really great day - not too hot and all the animals were enjoying the sunshine. We were just in time to see the zoo keepers work with the elephants. This is the younger female Asian elephant named Sooki.
The oldest elephant at the zoo, a female named Gunda showing off the "finger" on her trunk.
Aww, Sooki, you're such a cutie girl.Check out that foot.
Cheese!
Hey, Big Al, you handsome 102 year old Aldabra tortoise. They can live over 200 years. The big guy's foot.
Random couple I took a photo of because he had on a John Brown University tee shirt. Katie B., do you or maybe your parents know these people?
The lion cubs weren't out a couple of weeks ago. How cute are these two little boys?
The tigers were having so much fun. We spent an enormous amount of time watching them. A zoo docent told me that she's at the zoo often and it's rare that the tigers are so active. Lucky us.
Close up of scales on a Beauty Snake, a rat snake from Asia.
Ashlee making fun of the statue because it reminds her of the "Timmy and Cindy" statues in Owasso. Oh, Ashlee. Oh, Pam.
Hey, I finally found someone with a bigger head than the one attached to my neck!BATS!Did you know these things are loose in the Rain Forest? I didn't, but it didn't bother me. They are just cute little fruit bats.
Can you tell what I am?
A jaguar on the prowl!
These flowers were blooming on a tree/bush by the Rain Forest. They were huge, maybe a foot long, and looked like trumpets. So pretty.
Ashlee in her natural habitat.
Minnie spending some time with Ashlee because "Big Yellow" wasn't in the house. Or maybe she was trying to get Ashlee out of camera range. Minnie does like to be the center of attention.
Hey, guys! What's the big deal about all the animals at the zoo? I'm all the animal you need!

Yes, I did know about the bats and it DOES bother me!
Did you know you can be bitten by one and not even know it?
Also, Jake ran up under a little ledge in there and about 5 came flying out...scared us all, bats included!
